The “Mission” of St. Patrick’s Sunday School is to:
- To teach children and youth how God’s promises of salvation are woven into our lives.
- To teach children and youth the way of Christ, not only in the church but also in the world as Christ’s ambassadors.
- To give children and youth a solid grounding for future youth and high-school formation programs, which prepares them for Christian adulthood.
- To foster the spiritual formation and growth of our children and youth in Christ’s love and mercy, and to teach the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.
The format of Sunday School closely models the format of the actual church service. Each component is designed to be developmentally appropriate, meaningful, and engaging for the target age group.
After reading the Collect, teachers creatively review the Bible story that provides the focus for the sermon. In Sunday School, the sermon is designed to engage the students and connect to their interests, and is delivered in a variety of interactive ways including discussions, crafts, and games.
After the Prayers of the People, we conclude with a modified version of the Nicene Creed and the children will return to their families during the Peace.
